Raise and Slaughter Chickens

There's more to farming than just growing plants, you know. Tending livestock is just as important.

To learn about the more advanced ranching, you'll need to talk to Farmer Makella. But I can teach you the basics for now.

To start off, you'll need to purchase a baby Chick from a Livestock Merchant.

Once you've got the Chick, place it in the Public Farm. You can feed it Ground Grain to help it grow, or just let it grow up naturally.

Either way, it will take some time for your Chicken to mature. Feel free to leave it here while you handle your other concerns.

Just be sure to come back within 24 hours, or someone might steal it!

Once the Chicken is fully grown, slaughter it to collect |nn;@ITEM_NAME(3507)|r.

Once you give me the |nn;@ITEM_NAME(3507)|r, I'll know you've learned the basics of farming and ranching. I'll even reward you with a Scarecrow Garden, so you can have your own place to grow crops and raise livestock.

|nb;Step 1: Purchase a Chick|r Purchase a Chick from a Livestock Merchant.

|nb;Step 2: Place Your Chick|r Place the animal just like you would a plant. Animals are protected for 1 day when raised on a Public Farm.

|nb;Step 3: Feeding|r @ITEM_NAME(16230)s can grow with or without @ITEM_NAME(30902), but feeding them @ITEM_NAME(30902) will speed their growth. When a @ITEM_NAME(16230) is fully grown, it will become a Chicken.

|nb;Step 4: Butchering|r If butchered immaturely, a @ITEM_NAME(16230) produces little or no @ITEM_NAME(3507). Only a fully grown Chicken will always produce meat.

If you feed Ground Grain to an adult Chicken, it will thrive. Thriving Chickens produce more Chicken Meat when butchered.
